School Author Visits

Thanks to platforms such as Zoom, or Google Meet, I can still connect with your kids and  talk about the importance of reading and writing.
My programs are filled with visuals, and are as interactive as ever. And, here's a Covid bonus - the drawing lessons are better for everyone! Now every kid can see the screen and practice along.

As a former librarian, I understand tight budgets and limited resources, and have done my best to keep my fees reasonable.

Once a visit date is confirmed, I will mail a free copy of my book to share with the students. I will also provide schools with flyers, detailed information about ordering books, and tips for a successful visit.

WRITING WORKSHOP - (Grades 3-5)
I talk to students about my journey as a struggling reader, and writer, discuss the power of revisions, and introduce my Four Step Sure-Fired Easy-to-Write Story Formula.

We will work on:
• Finding a good idea
• Adding imagery
• Using exciting words
• Make our own Four Step Sure-Fired Easy-to-Write Story

THE INSIDE SCOOP - This presentation is suitable for all ages.  I'll talk about being both an author and an illustrator. We'll talk about the fact that my writing process is exactly what they are learning in school, and I'll share my steps for drawing characters.

WRITING NONFICTION - (Grades 2 and up)
This presentation covers everything from research to revisions.

THE ILLUSTRATION PROCESS - (Grades 2 and up)
Even illustrators need to revise their work. We'll cover sketches, storyboards, and lots of drawing.
